1930- Born in Saudi Arabia -was Saudi Arabia’s minister of petroleum and mineral resources. 1960-1962

– Sponsored the formation of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) along with other Arab oil producers

– advisor to Saudi crown prince Faisal ibn Abd al-Aziz


– Faisal ibn Abd al-Aziz appointed him minister of state and petroleum minister


1968 – The Organization of Arab Petroleum Exporting Countries (OAPEC)

1969 – awarded with honorary degree from Nihon University in Japan


1973-1974 – Around these years, he supported the Arab oil embargo against the United States and the oil-price rises of the 1970s, which bought great wealth to Saudi Arabia.


1975 – also received an honorary degree from Osmania University in India


1986 – He was dismissed


1990s – continued to being a commentator and consultant on global oil policies
