1935 – Ray W. Fuller, born in Dongola, Illinois. A biochemist specializing in neuroscience.
1985 – An adjunct professor in neurobiology at The Indiana University School of Medicine.
1986 – He received the SIUC Alumni Achievement Award.
1988 – Was a co-discoverer of the most widely used antidepressant drug, Prozac.
1989 – He also accomplished many other outstanding scientific achievements, becoming a Lilly Research Fellow.
1990 – He received two honorary doctorate degrees, one from Purdue University.
1994 – Recieved one honorary doctorate Degrees from Southern Illinois University.
