1788 – He was born in Foxboro, Massachusetts on the 17th of November.

         – He is also credited with having invented a cut off switch for steam engines and a method for producing zinc from ore.

1819 – He invented process for producing patent leather.

1820 – Boyden began his work with malleable iron in, when he was 32 years old.

1826 – He invented process for producing malleable cast iron.

         – Boyden never patented his inventions, preferring instead to take individual contracts and to build and sell off businesses.

1870 – He died on the 31st of March.
